We just came back from the Funeral of a wonderful man, whom we worked with in the Temple, I have to write something as it has motivated me to be a better person.
We just loved him he was such a character, always with a smile and such a sense of humour.....most of us who serve together all had a story to tell of something funny he had done to us.
I'll give you an example of his character...the Stake Pres. and his family went on a long holiday, on his return there was a large For Sale Sign with Sold on it in his front yard....You can imagine the shock they got when they pulled up in their front yard....Pres. Pemberton had a feeling that he knew who it was who might have done that....yes of course it was Andre ......He had gone to the Pemberton's next door neighbour and asked him if he would join in on a practical joke...... So when the Pemberton's drove into their yard the neighbour was sitting on his fence with a grin from ear to ear....... Pres. Pemberton asked Andre well did you get a good price for our house...Andre replies yes I did, but you only made $20 handing him the note......that is the sort of character he was......apparently he did not have an easy childhood.....yet he was able to turn his lives experiences around and truly lived a life of service and happiness.....
The Chapel was full to the very back of the Hall......and his funeral was one of great Tribute and Love.
We feel blessed to have known him and his beloved wife.....who will miss him greatly...she had so much grace today and peace surrounded her.....even though he was taken within 5 minutes and it was totally unexpected.
I wish we could all be a little less serious and have more of that kind of cheekiness in our lives....the kind that brings a big smile to ones heart and a jolly good laugh...actually that is the type of humour I do have.....and am never upset when someone plays a trick on me.
It's really nice when a funeral is the celebration of one's life, and even though it is sad, it is nice to have a little laugh and a smile xxx
