My Thermo Mix

I was telling my friend about Nanna's Recipe....she said "Don't you know your Thermo makes the yummiest Lemon Butter"...actually it does everything except the dishes....
So last Saturday Tony and I made a whole batch of lemon cordial which we love will put the recipe up for that as well...... and four jars of lemon butter and she is right as she always is...we are into our 2nd jar.......yum and yum again....but not for the weight !!!!

Lemon Butter

My Mother in Law showed me how to make the BEST lemon butter and it was so simple...as we have the largest and juiciest lemons in Australia...and I go weak in the knees with ANYTHING lemon I certainly tried it with gusto....so here is the recipe from Nanna.
40 grams of melted butter     90 grams sugar     rind and juice of one lemon    1 egg
Method add sugar to melted butter   Beat
add lemon juice and rind
Microwave 1min.30 sec.
add beaten egg very slowly
microwave 2 minutes     beat    let cool      refrigerate.
Yummy !!!!!

Hand's Up

Today as we had 7 little ones for lunch again, which Papa makes....Little Naomi says out of the blue hands up who misses Auntie Naomi......all hands shot up...Tone and I were on the sidelines listening and watching.
One would say I miss her the most and another would say know I do !!! then little Naomi in a strong and loud voice says.... No I do, I miss her from all infinity..... no one could do any better so the conversation died....but I hasten to say, NO I DO...... more then any words could say.

Oh my gosh these young boys are magnificent !!!!!!
I really got goose bumps listening to them they are 16 and one is 17 what a future...when I first heard them I really thought that they were miming.
I'm speaking as a Mum now....
I hope that with all there fame and money and all that comes with that, that they will lead happy, fulfilling and honorable lives.

Random thoughts

It was ssooooo good to talk to Na and see Manly on Skype again...only a week they were not contactable as they were on a Holder Family cruise to Mexico but it was to long for me...it really made me think of the olden days when there were no mobile phones or computers or planes...when you said  goodbye to a Family member it really was goodbye and your contact became almost to nothing and probably you would not see them again......how very hard that would have had to be...I remember when we left Holland how upset my Grandmother was...she knew she would never see us again.....she died a few years later...I was told that she was heartbroken....I understand it all a little better now...although I would never stop our children from spreading their wings........ so to speak....... good on them...but a Mother's heart is never far away from her  own...no matter how old they are.
I have the most gorgeous waterfall of Orange colour out in my garden in front with little splashes of white...I must take a picture...will today.
Sometimes my life is full and sometimes it is quieter..this week has been a quieter week.....I like it busier but my body likes the other kind !!!!!
I bought all the little girls a handbag $5 each couldn't pass it up....this is Pene's first handbag she is 2 and boy what a character....think I've talked about her before....anyway Nic said she would not let go of the bag she carried it everywhere including to bed..she would take things out and put them back again..when Nic checked on her that night,  all the little things in her bag were all laid out on the pillow and she was still hanging onto the darn thing. She is an adorable handfull.
I'm off to buy a rubber mat for my bathroom.... nearly fell over the other day.
Family History tonight and visiting a friend this afternoon who is going to help me with a cutting machine I recently purchased and am playing with... good fun.

A Tan

It's sometimes hard for people to believe that the Dutch with such a cold climate can go so Olive skinned....it's a really gorgeous colour as well....here is my Mum and me at the age of two in Rotterdam Holland........ when we came to Australia, I had just turned 7, I still had that wonderful bronze colour as soon as the Sun hit me, but the Sun is much harsher here and of course like any Aussie I burn now ...but not as bad as some like Tony.

There are three of us here at the Family History Center........and we are hoping for some patron's to come in ...but I think not, oh well am doing what I want to do and that's ok....... good to just sit. Although I always prefer to be busy. LOVE FAMILY HISTORY...... so happy that I'm here doing my thing.

Nanna

Thought I would put a photo of Nanna and Vanessa...was taken on Sunday...she is getting much better and is getting to be independent and going home this Thursday....so hopefully all will be well with her.

Been Busy

Early one morning last week actually Tuesday we got a phone call that Tony's Mum had fallen over and she was being taken to Hospital...Tone and I left immediately and luckily found that she was ok....hurt her back and head but ok...she stayed in Hospital for a few days and is now here with us so we can look after her...She is amazing she is 92 and maintains herself so well and is very independent.
We are having to do less and less for her because she is constantly trying to be independent again...but of course there are still many things to be done she feels she will stay with us till the end of the week...which is fine....good opportunity to help and get a little closer to all of us...this is a busy house most days...it's how I love it really as long as I get a chance to have a little rest I'm ok.
I'm typing this with the background of ....let me count 7 little ones playing plus Nanna......
Will get back to this soon.....   beautiful day today...Nanna taught me this morning how to make Lemon Butter in the microwave and it truly is yummy will put the recipe up soon.....sooooooo easy.
Naomi, Luke, Manly and all of Luke's Family are of to Mexico on a cruise.
Bec Matt and their three are of to Preston Point down South for three days...Hope they all have a wonderful time.
Oh by the way Tony and Lajla are Home !!!!

Tower of surprise

We had our friends over for Tea last night and I made my little Tower of Vegetables, it looks impressive and tastes wonderful...so I thought why not put the recipe on my blog...as it's soooo easy to do. First you will need to get a stainless, bottomless cylinder...I got mine from Kitchen Warehouse......Spray with oil and place on flat tray......big enough to hold four cylinders ....or how ever many.....
Cut up finely...except for the cherry tomatoes which I just cut in half...make sure they are not over ripe......
1st layer Tomatoes mixed in with sprouts.... leaves only, pepper and salt...place in cylinder, 2nd thinly sliced flavoured feta cheese 3rd finely cubed Lebanese cucumber 4th finely cubed red capsicum 5th Parmesan Cheese 6th Rocket and cashew dip 8th a fine layer of a milder cheese .......Place in fridge with a glass of half filled water that covers the top leave for an hour....empty water from glass and place empty glass back on the slightly compressed Veg......... Just before serving the 7th layer which is advocado is put on and a dollop of light Sour Cream......I make this about four hours before serving...Of course you can alter... add... or detract to whatever you want...and as Julia Child would say Bon Appetit !!!! we had it with Grilled Steak and home made Chips....

There are days you feel melancholy and this is one of them...I listened to this again and it made me worse and good all at the same time ..... someone sent this to me years ago and I thought I would share it so maybe someone could also feel melancholy like me in a good way of course......No I know it's not Christmas, but who cares..... it's words to share and pictures that will bring a lump to ones throat...it did mine. Plus it makes me feel closer to the Creator of all.   it's called.     "Mary did you know." ......... We also do not know just what marvelous choice character we are carrying when we are blessed to be pregnant.......I was many times.

Feeling Good

First day since Monday that I feel much better.....thank goodness!!!!! yesterday was my lowest point...just wanted to be with Tony all day... and have him comfort me...(thought that I was never going to get any better, plus I had vertigo, still a little there today).....of course he was out working...but this morning the Sun is shining and so am I.

Poor Me

The rain has been wonderful hope there is more, today the Sun is shining and all is well...except my body !!! rotten flu !!!! I'm wondering why I had the flu needle....maybe tomorrow I'll feel better, been madly knitting, when my head is in the right place.
